Naming in the .ai era: the security vertical

The .ai TLD stopped being a novelty around 2023 and by 2026 is the default technical signal for AI-native products. Within .ai, the security sub-category — anything touching AI security, model security, prompt security, or data protection — has the highest end-user acquisition rate of any vertical.

Why security specifically

• The category is greenfield: model security, red-teaming, prompt injection defense, and eval infra all became line items in 2024–25.
• Buyers are well-funded — the average AI security seed round in 2025 was $8M+.
• Trust is the product. A name that reads as serious infrastructure (SecureLab, GuardAI, ThreatKit) outperforms cutesy or coined names in enterprise sales.

What a name has to do

It has to read as infrastructure, not consumer. Two-word constructions with 'lab', 'core', 'guard', 'shield', or 'axis' as one half do the work — they signal a team, a discipline, and a product surface, not a chatbot.
